It is very tempting to seek a partner at a Gentile church, where there may be a singles ministry, or at least more single people in a specific age range. While the potential marriage partner may also be a Believer, he or she might not be interested in Messianic ways. For a Messianic Jew, the option is also there to seek a non-Believing Jewish spouse. The common denominator of being Jewish is there, but without a common faith in Yeshua, the relationship is either doomed to fail, or the faith of the Believing partner is severely compromised.

Messianic Singles is a new Internet ministry that was created to address this very problem. Where and how to find a spouse is just one of the many conversation threads on this e-mail mailing list.

The idea for the list came when one of the now-members asked around to his single Messianic friends about a certain high-profile Web site that has been advertised for quite some time now. The Web site is supposed to be a dating service for Messianic Believers. However, the site is about three months behind schedule, and the group of Messianic friends thought it would be a great idea to have some sort of way for Messianic singles to communicate in the meantime.

Messianic Singles is not a dating service, but rather a casual mailing list where members can discuss any topic of interest. The group's homepage is located at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/messianic-singles/. To be able to access certain functions of the page, you must register with Yahoo -- the necessary link is on the upper right corner of the page. You can also create a profile in the same area.

In addition to e-mail discussions, members can start and take part in polls and upload photos, so that other members can put faces to names. There tends to be very high traffic in terms of messages, so one can set their e-mail delivery options to Daily Digest, which will deliver only one, large message per day containing all of the individual messages sent that day. There is also the No Email option, whereby the member can only see the messages by visiting the site, as opposed to having messages delivered to their inboxes.

Messianic Singles is fun, and it is completely free to join and participate. The membership already boasts a group of Messianic Jews and Gentiles from a variety of ages and locations.
