FAQs About Messianic Judaism

I am a gentile Christian who is interested in converting to Messianic Judaism. How do I go about this?

There currently is no conversion process to Messianic Judaism that has been agreed upon by the various congregational organizations. Gentiles are as welcome in Messianic congregations as Jewish people, and by submitting to the Messianic lifestyle, one becomes part of the Messianic movement. Remember that we are one in Messiah Yeshua (Gal. 3:28), thus negating any real need for a conversion.

General FAQs

How can I find a Messianic congregation in my area?

The UMJC and Messianic Times have searchable directories. If you still cannot find one there, contact a pastor at a nearby church and ask if he knows of any local Messianic fellowships. Pentecostal/Assemblies of G-d churches tend to be friendly towards the Messianic movement.

I just found out that I have Jewish roots/my last name is derived from a Jewish name/my ancestors came from a predominantly Jewish area -- how can I prove that I am Jewish?

We're not experts in genealogy, so the help we can give directly here is limited. Our advice is not to stress too much in "proving" your Jewishness -- in the Messianic movement, usually someone with any direct Jewish heritage is considered to be Jewish.
