Parasha Va'eira (And I Appeared)
by Rabbi Jack "Yaacov" Farber
The Scripture readings for the Shabbat of January 8, 2005/27 Tevet 5765 are: Shemot/Exodus 6:2-9:35; Yechezkel/Ezekiel 28:25-29:21; Romim/Romans 9:14-26. And Brings a Goel (Redeemer) to their Children's Children for His Name Sake with Love Shemot {7:1} HaShem said to Moshe (Moses), "Behold, I have made you as G-D to Pharaoh; and Aharon your brother shall be your navi (prophet). {7:2} You shall speak all that I command you; and Aharon your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he let the bnei Yisrael (children of Israel) go out of his land. {7:3} I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Mitzrayim (Egypt). {7:4} But Pharaoh will not listen to you, and I will lay my hand on Mitzrayim, and bring forth my hosts, my people the bnei of Yisrael, out of the land of Mitzrayim by great mishpatim (judgments). {7:5} The Mitzrayim shall know that I am HaShem, when I stretch forth my hand on Mitzrayim, and bring out the bnei Yisrael from among them." I have often wondered why Pharaoh, ruler of the most powerful nation of the world at that time, did not simply have Moshe and Aharon arrested and put to death when they came to him with these unreasonable demands. The passage just quoted I believe explains it. Although Pharaoh did not listen to the brothers, he feared and respected them as god. Remember that the Mitzrayim had many gods which they worshiped. I understand that there were in excess of one thousand. When Moshe came to Pharaoh, speaking to him as no human would dare speak to a Pharaoh; this must have gotten his attention. Then when Moshe backed up what he was saying with signs and wonders, Pharaoh who thought himself as god, must have thought of Moshe as god coming from the G-d of the Hebrews. To Pharaoh Moshe was G-d incarnate (G-d become man)! This is exactly what HaShem told Moshe would happen. This also brings me to another observation. I have been teaching that Moshe foreshadowed Mashiach (Messiah) Yeshua. Well here we have a perfect example of that. Let us take another look at the first two sentences of the passage I quoted above and I am sure you will see what I mean: Shemot {7:1} HaShem said to Moshe, "Behold, I have made you as G-D to Pharaoh; and Aharon your brother shall be your navi. {7:2} You shall speak all that I command you; Moshe therefore, according to these verses, was seen by the Mitzrayim as G-d on earth. This of course was HaShem's doing. In addition, we are told that he would speak only those things which HaShem would tell him to speak. Those of us who know Mashiach Yeshua as our goel (redeemer), are aware that He was G-d on earth and by His own admission spoke only those things which the Father instructed Him to speak. Yochanan (John) {12:49} For I have not spoken of Myself; but the Father which sent Me,He gave Me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. {12:50} And I know that His commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto Me, so I speak. This also reinforces the fact that, when Moshe told us in Scriptures that HaShem would send us a prophet like unto him, he was in fact speaking of Yeshua whom he foreshadowed. Devarim (Deuteronomy) {18:15} HaShem your G-D will raise up to you a navi from the midst of you, of your brothers, like me; to him you shall listen; While Moshe was alive and leading the bnei Yisrael, he served in three offices. He was a prophet, a priest and a king. Similarly with the second Moshe! While on the earth Yeshua served as a prophet. He is now in heaven serving as our Cohen Hagadol (High Priest) after the order of Melchizedek. Upon His return He will be bestowed the office of King, ruling and reigning from Yerushalyim (Jerusalem). Tehillim (Psalms) {110:1} HaShem said unto my L-rd, Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool. {110:2} HaShem shall send the rod of Your strength out of Tzion (Zion): rule in the midst of Your enemies. {110:3} Your people shall be willing in the day of Your power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: You have the dew of Your youth. {110:4} HaShem has sworn, and will not repent, You art a Priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. Torah is replete with evidence that Yeshua is the Mashiach of Yisrael! All a person needs are eyes to see Him. Sadly the majority of the bnei Yisrael have not changed over the past 3500 years: Yechezkel (Ezekiel) {12:2} Son of man, you live in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.
